Meet Butch OtterBefore becoming Governor, Butch served three terms in Congress representing Idaho’s 1st District. He was Idaho’s only four-term lieutenant governor and previously served two terms in the Idaho House of Representatives. The father of four and grandfather of five is a Caldwell native, College of Idaho graduate, and veteran of the Idaho Army National Guard’s 116th Armored Cavalry. Governor Otter also is a member of the Roman Catholic Church, the National Rifle Association, the Maple Grove State Grange, and the Idaho Cowboys Association. He is a Grand Slam member of Ducks Unlimited, a lifetime member of Safari Club International, and a lifetime member of American Legion Post 113 in Meridian. His 30-year career in business included work for the J.R. Simplot Company as Director of the Food Products Division, President of Simplot Livestock, and President of Simplot International. In public life, that private-sector experience has helped Governor Otter manage State government within the people’s means while expanding our economy by selling Idaho products and services in 87 countries throughout the world. The Governor has earned a reputation throughout his public and private careers as a champion of free enterprise, limited government, private property rights, civil liberties, state sovereignty, personal responsibility, and fiscal accountability. He is honored to serve the people of Idaho as Governor, and he’s grateful for the opportunity to keep helping our citizens make Idaho what America was meant to be. |
